I had a conversation with a lady the other day, a single mum; life seems to have its ups and downs for her, and I am sure most parents these days’ wether single, defacto or married.
Her two boys who give her hell, we talked about these new to me letters, because they certainly were not around InMyDay, ADD, ADHD, LD etc etc.
These letters get blamed for all sorts of problems with kids now.
She then we went on to talk about some reasons for this behaviour, broken marriage, strain on the kids, no father figure around all the time, work causing her to leave the kids with sitters or to fend for themselves for short times as they grew older.
I defended these blame factors that the mother used, they were not her fault entirely, all she did was help to create the situation that they lived in.
It was the child who through the choice of free will made the decisions to extenuate the situations that they found themselves in.
In short they were the blame as we all are for everything that happens in our lives as we have the free will to make changes or choose situations that will shape our lives.
I know this is not the be all and end all of answers, I know situations can keep coming up that are less than presentable, I know some seem to be tarred with a charmed life and some seem to get the rough end of the pineapple all the time.
But we still have that free will to choose the path of our making, shaping the outcome in the end.
This brings me back to InMyDay, I was one of the Latch Key generation.
Yes I had a whole family, but it was the start of needs in our life and both parents had to work to make ends meet.
My dad never seemed to be around as he worked all the time and weekends he worked Saturday to pay the taxes he told me, which left Sunday for it seemed nothing but work around the house to catch up.
InMyDay I had to walk the several miles to Primary School each day rain, hail or shine.
No lifts, buses or friends dropping us off.
After school I had I had to do the same walk every single day, while we were younger my brother and I were minded by the lady down the road and that was no picnic.
As I grew and started the walk to the High School, a bit further each day, we became the Latch Key Kids.
This was called so because our parents used to leave out the backdoor key in a secret place for us each day.
The back door in days older than us used to have a lock that operated a latch, a piece of metal, lifting it up to open the door.
Once inside I was in charge of getting the afternoon snacks for us, and organise the play until Mum came home to prepare the tea.
I grew up in an area of Sydney that was real bad, in primary school we had drugs that were rife, girls getting pregnant and even one kid getting arrested for a robbery, yes in Primary School.
I made it through this tuff time because of one reason, I made the right choices, not always, but enough to keep me on the straight and narrow.
Today and then, the situations are very similar, though I really do believe that kids today are being affected by what is in what they eat, and that is everything which does help to put some of their behaviour out of their control, but not all.
Of course the quantity they eat is a problem but certainly the quality is affected, remember everything we consume becomes us; our food is technically a sponge that absorbs everything in its environment to grow, therefore becoming a product of its environment.
Once again we are also a sponge taking on board everything that is in the food that we consume, making us what we are today; we also are a product of our environment.
Sadly I see today’s youth and feel sorry for them, they are already huge, when I was that age I was called Sparrow at High School.
For those who know me now I am a bit bigger than that these days.
I also believe today’s generation is also greatly affected by the media influences that baby sit or entertain them through the day.
They watch TV, Movies and play Computer games that are scenario based.
All of these situations are placing their minds into a false reality, the longer they spend in this false reality the harder it is for their minds to disseminate from reality and fantasy.
Our bodies are trained by our environment to automate a lot of our daily tasks; parts of our bodies have memory stored in our mussels to undertake certain tasks.
These situations are trained into our psyche by repetition and rote learning.
Now take the child who participates in fantasy role plays for long amounts of time.
This has now become Fantasy Learning, and has become the old style of learning by carrying out tasks and situation, learning them by repetition and rote learning.
If a child plays a Car Racing game a lot, he is imbibing into his mussel memories these instincts of how to react during the game whether it be speeding driving erratically, crashing into other cars whatever the game play needs to win.
These are becoming his psyche for driving.
Could this answer some issues we are having with our young drivers?
Now swap the games for one of violence, fighting, bashing victims etc, play enough and the mussel memories and the psych are being trained into a reality that is not suitable for a normal society life.
Movies have long influenced our youth, they see a fight scene in a movie, they take note subconsciously of action taken to survive or win, and these are stored in the memory for later use if needed.
Somewhere in the future usually after alcohol has taken its toll a situation arises that triggers these stored memory responses, they pick up a chair and hit the person with it, though it is not a stage chair this time, serious injury or death can arise from this action.
The same with a bottle it is not sugar glass harmless to the actor, but solid and real.
The case is the same for the stories you see on the news, where a person is brought down like an animal, then like the movies or the games, they are kicked constantly, once again in the movies it is acting, in life it is serious injury or death.
This also can explain the rise in violence by children to their peers.
InMyDay we had a healthy fear of our peers, Parents, Teachers, Police, again InMyDay there was those that bucked the system, they now are either dead, in jail or a now hoper.
Choice is our only true gift that we can use for our betterment.
The answer try to find the time to spend with your kids doing things you both cn enjoy, try to limit their time baby sat by the media’s and try to feed them the best food you can.
Remember you are growing a child who like any plant need all the nurturing and best environment you can give them, it was the same InMyDay, but with less outside influences to make your job harder.

Granny's
InMyDay I really, really remember seeing grandmothers a lot, I even remember my own.
A pair!
Grannies were old, usually grey, usually dressed in dark clothes, they knitted, baked, fussed over you and were always good for a treat.
Even if they weren't yours.
I even remember one of mine helping me to throw up, I was staying over and I had a cold, out come the old treatment of hot lemon with honey.
I seemed to really like this, and I was given one after the other.
Until I had to much and it all came back.
Now I am off the track.
Has any one else noticed that Grannies are now Grandmothers!
There not old anymore, the can be in their 30's, dress hot and you wouldn't mind fraternizing with some of them.
How did they get so young, loose the grey hair and get hot!
Or is it I became old also and the gap shortened.

Brain Washing
Had a really interesting experience the other day, my personal communications device, my link to the outside world, my string of control by my other half.
Stopped working, fully charged, just stopped.
Tottled off to the local outlet that is the Corporate Giant that issued the device to me, WOW the shop is crammed full of people, this was going to be fun.
Front of shop is for those who are getting the once over, fulfilling their individual desires and needs with a plethora of devices to satisfy every need.
All seemed to be young an I am very certain InMyDay I could not have afforded to buy one of these let alone pay for all the charges that go with it.
Still to this day I am afraid to go on the Net with my phone because I can not afford to pay the charges.
Towards the back was the counter of needs, as I approached I quickly worked out by the 2 signs which line I needed to be in.
Schooling and learning to read really does pay off you know.
I lined up beside another couple my vintage, and we just milled waiting for the line to be devoured by the counter.
In a very short while, along came a lovely very short lady to enquire of my needs for this day.
I explained phone no go, I was nicely told we do not handle repairs here, the counter will ascertain if they can fix the problem or if it will have to be sent away for the repairs if needed.
Oh! and I was in the right line.
This lovely short lady kept moving down the line asking each person their needs, all seemed to be different, but the answer seemed to be the same, we do not handle that here!
Well the man next to me commented, InHisDay if he had run his business in any sort of form close to this he would have gone broke.
We bantered about the total seeming confusion and disorganization of the place, I commented I wonder what they actually did here as it seemed that, nearly all request for help were answered with, we do not handle that here.
From the end of the line our lovely line hostess, obviously had her radar keenly tuned for any sign of dissent in any form, came bounding down to us with a huge man in tow, to query our comment.
I explained we did really wonder what they did as it seems you kept saying you did nothing here.
Quickly she turned to male and assigned him to serve the couple next to me taking them towards the ultimate goal, the desk.
I received the same quick attention and was assigned a server and also was escorted to the desk.
I could not help but feel that brain washing had been affected here on this obviously senior person to the rest, some respond better than others to this type of training.
I know first hand when I landed a very senior position with a huge multi national burger chain. I underwent extreme indoctrination and learning everything about the company and in the end I was a convert and sadly to this day will still defend them.
Having had an American at the helm I am sure I recognised the tell tale signs of indoctrination within this lovely lady.
OK I am now at the counter and about to find out the one of only two things this shop does: 1 accepts money in payment of bills or top ups for phone cards, and 2 sells phones.
Now I have a 24 month contract on my phone, but it seems they only give 12 months warranty on the Z crap they give you.
It seems I was remiss not to know that these days I am supposed to turn off my phone several times a week to give the little thing a rest.
They apparently need their sleep also.
By neglecting to do this, death was immanent.
Now the sales spiel, they are well trained in this.
It goes like this and all salesman are trained to use this technique, but no one is better at it than this lot. I think maybe fear might drive them to perform so well.
"Your phone has an indeterminable problem, we do not look at them, nor fix it here, we have to send it away to be looked at, at this point they will determine the cost and let you know.
If you decide not to have it fixed there is a charge still."
Pregnant pause.
"Or we can SELL you a new phone of your choice, or you can pay out your contract and start again with a Ha! Ha! Free phone."
They then work out your personal charge to get out of the contract, even though they supplied a phone that has not kept up its end of the bargain.
The price for choice two is given!
Choice one a cost that is unknown, how long is a piece of string, Choice three a fixed cost to buy out your contract that is the biggest of the known amounts, and finally a fixed cost you can control, the purchase of a new phone, that you have to have to finish of using the rest of your contract.
They got you. They are good at this and well trained. We are at their mercy.
I bought the lowest cost phone I could, because there is another clause, where we live means we cannot just buy any phone it must have the blue tick, and they cost more.
But I am pleased to say it was the cheapest of the options, but not by much.
I have a new fancy phone that each time I buy one does more and more and I just want it so I can answer and call people, I use it for 2 functions only, yet have to pay more and more for it.
You know I have trouble hearing my phone when it rings,no matter what lovely melody it plays, I usually pick a song I like, then when it rings, I think to myself that is a lovely song.
By the time I realise it is my phone they have hung up and I have to call them back.
More costs.
I have solved the problem now by finding and old fashioned plain old telephone ring sound, and now I can here my phone and answer it.
Another trick, did you know that the phones are deliberately set to ring only a few times, so you continually miss the calls, more money.
There is a code you can type in which will change the ring to longer, I did it and miss no more.
Well InMyDay somehow we got along fine without constant in touch with every one else.
Maybe we should start a trend and stop having mobile phones.

Crabs
I used to be in the food game, restaurant, take away, bakery, fish & chips.
One of the staple foods in the deep fried market is the Humble crab stick.
InMyDay this really did start life as a piece of Alsakan King Crab leg and was wholly a crab stick.
Over 12 years of seeing the cartons of the raw product arrive, I started to read what ingredients were actually being used in them.
It fluctuated from wholly crab to many different combinations of White Fish and crab, of course always getting less and less crab and more and more of the innocuous white fish.
The % of crab going up and down as the years and demand passed.
One stage they changed to all white fish and crab essence.
Then I even saw not one single shred of crab nor essence within the stick, public was buying all white fish and red colouring.
I have not seen a package for some time, so not sure where it lies now.
Towards the end the Crab Stick was becoming very cheap to buy and we were selling it for a very healthy margin, a little to much in my thoughts.
So being a good marketer and looking for more sales I tried to SPECIAL them and drop the price.
Could not sell any, the minds of the public thought to cheap it cannot be real Crab.
So I increased the price above the old selling price and sales boomed.
The mind of us all.
Still a marketer, I started to use the humble Crab stick to boost up specials by adding a number to a purchase, this worked the best.
This is just one single product that has changed from InMyDay, I am sure you out there can tell me much more.

How did we Survive
Have we really became a society of idiots unable to survive the dangers of every day life?
OR
IS the reality, we have become a society of people afraid someone, who in all respects is a complete idiot, will sue us because they do not wish to admit that they are TOTALLY responsible for their own journey.
Like it or not the only person on this planet that is responsible for you is YOU.
It is reported that God gave us free will, therefore we have the opportunity to make all the decisions that affect our lives, like it or not.
What brings this on, a simple birthday party for a friend.
A usual birthday gesture the obligatory BC, cake, with candles.
Not the 75 needed for true recognition but a token amount of 12.
Once the blowing out, the fan fare over, the loving wife of the Birthday Boy decided to look at the large amount of writing on the back of the candle packet.
Wow we all did not realise what a potentially dangerous product we had carelessly lit for the pleasure of blowing out.
Nearly half of the back of the Candle packet was taken up by the warning:
Apparently you have to follow some important procedures in the name of safety.
Candles can no longer be deemed out by the mere act of blowing.
It seems they need to be put in water, hopefully while not on the cake, or maybe we can start handing the Birthday person a glass or bucket of water for real safety and that is thrown over the cake.
You need to make sure the candle is completely extinguished when not in use.
There goes the thought of keeping it lit until it is next needed, I am sure that thought has crossed all our minds.
Do not put away for several minutes just in case of spontaneous combustion occurring, after the water episode.
Keep out of reach of children, I think with obesity rampant maybe that would be better printed on the cake.
Never leave a burning candle unattended, I hear they get lonely, or maybe just do not like to burn alone.
Do not place near flammable material, apparently it can catch a lite also, who would have thought that, lucky it is written down.
Candles and their plastic holders are apparently 2 separate, underlined and bold, pieces. Be sure to remove both, underlined and bold, from cake before serving.
Adult supervision is required.
This company sells a lot of other fun dangerous and life threatening party objects. I wonder how big is the safety section for Sparklers, and those most deadly of all objects Bubbles.
How did we survive InMyDay?
We did not have these insane instructions on everything, apparently lately a jar of Peanut Butter may contain nuts, so I need to be careful.
Look around read these incredible list of ingredients & instructions on all of our food, health related products & even inanimate products who can only hurt us if we impact on them in some way.
Just keeping us safe from ourselves.
But what gets me is pick up any cleaning product designed to destroy the nastiest of problems, and try find out what is the ingredients within these products.
I bet you they are more toxic and dangerous than say Peanut Butter.
I think we can trace back the start of this stupidity and the litigation it can cause, to one woman & the famous Cup of Coffee she purchased from McDonald's in America, now don't be to surprised, because she was.
Her cup of coffee was HOT and while driving away spilling some on her and it hurt.
I remember reading she got a lot of money for this superb act of stupidity, because McDonald's had not written on the cup that the contents maybe hot.
I am sure I will be bringing you other really stupid examples in the future, but in the mean time, feel sad for the generation of idiots we must be breeding today that need all these warnings to survive, because InMyDay we somehow got by with very minimal warnings and even instructions on our products outer packaging.
PS I have a beautiful 18mth old granddaughter, who has the extremely large collection of Toys. It seems to be a competition between manufacturers and Government Departments to see who can put on a single toy the most and biggest labels on a single toy.
WARNING do not buy your young child a small toy because the labels are nearly larger than the toy.
Has anyone thought that the labels can be a hazard, I have not seen one with its own label decreeing its safety to fire, or warning of the choking hazard of the label if it becomes detached.
Until next time I know I must be very smart to have survived the turbulent times of InMyDay.

Stocking it in some ones pocket
InMyDay the stock market was a little known commodity, it did not generally affect my life.
It had no control over me, my life style nor my future.
Somewhere in past time, this slowly and gradually changed my life and all those who sail within this ship called Earth for ever.
I first started to notice this entity during work, we were getting Managers who were being trained, guided or controlled by the powers above to start mentioning, pointing out and even blaming the now important fact that all facets of our work life was to be measured by the affect on our Stock Market price.
This was often detrimental to our way of doing business the Old Fashioned Way, with customer service, advice, help, going that little bit further to win the sale, now being weighed up against the cost of doing business and its effects on Stock Prices.
It affected our budgets, our expenses, our perks.
Our life style was being eroded.
Then the big one the first major effect it has caused that has really had it final blow on the people from the era of InMyDay
When we first started work eons ago, there was no such thing as everyone having Superannuation, that only was enforced on us in a more recent past.
I say that as, it is a good thing, it helped us to think of our retirement, plan for our future, and panic about what we were about to lose from the Government, that once again was going to be eroded from our perks we worked so long to gain.
I remember being told that this Super was going to be safe, only investing in SAFE things like Government Bonds, Bank Stuff etc, Very Safe.
Then this stock market thing raised its ugly head, greed engulfed the Super Conglomerates who fought and vied for this huge growing mass of money.
We as the masses had no idea nor really cared if we made 4% or 14% interest on our money, it was just there waiting for us to end our work life and see how fast it can be gobbled up.
I am not sure what happened at this point, it is only conjecture on my part, but I feel that at this point, and I hope that we had Government Legislation protecting our money, limiting the investment of this money to SAFE investments as was discussed in the beginning. That somewhere, a group or larger of the Super Congloms went to the government and sort change, they wanted to make more money by putting the money in the Stock Market.
Again not sure of its history just conjecture, that the rules were changed and permission was given by the government and our money started to make us more and more money.
Of course the Super Congloms did to.
Then the first of the big crashes and the house of cards tumbled, it was now safe to assume that if you had $30 thousand you had now $15 thousand.
It seems we all lost about half.
Not really real bad for those who just got in and have a lifetime to go to get out.
A little different for us older ones who lost a lot and don't have long to go.
Once again the Stock Market hits me between the eyes.
NOW we have a further GLOBAL meltdown fuelled by the Stock Market and Greed by Banks, while we wait to see how all of this will affect the half of our Super we have left.
I have often thought, if we could get enough of us together, and take it to the Government who was in control of these decisions that have severely affected our futures by allowing greed to slip through.
Are they liable for this and would a court action by a very large group bring us some resolution?
The Stock Market now affects every single thing that occurs on this Planet unlike InMyDay

Loose Change
Another societal collapse, brought on by the total reliance of the population to the computer chip, which turns up in every thing these days, is something I love to have fun with.
Buy something, anything , anywhere, pay cash for it, just for fun now.
Lets say the total is as easy as $4.15
Wait till they have rung it up, you have given them $10, they push the magic button which tells them what change to give, so no thinking is allowed, wait for the cash draw to open, then offer them the 15c to make the change easier on your pocket.
9 out of 10 times the person behind the counter cannot do the math in their head to work out the change is $6
I even had one person, after I told them what the simple change is, get a calculator to check, I have had a Manager called to the counter to sort out this type of disaster also grab a calculator to check the math.
We in our day, had to sit and do mindless repetition of mathematical tables, over and over to learn by rote the entire list of tables right up to the dreaded '12 times tables'.
I know we hated it, then, but now we can pull an equation out of thin air and now the answer 'in our heads'.
This skill is being lost to our newer generations and will only be able to be performed by people of the same era from the time frame of InMyDay.

Spelng & Grama
I was in the newsagent this morning & overheard a lady about my age telling the owner about yesterday's paper, within she found some spelling errors.
I joined in to say it is not only newspapers, I am reading a book "The Power of One" and I keep finding spelling and grammatical errors within its hollowed pages.
This is not the first nor the last book I have & will read with these.
Austar often has them on screen.
And I also find them in the newspaper.
I even followed the back of a bus with a full size ad for a Internet Provider.
There was only a handful of words on this ad with most of the ad a family of Afro hair do's. There in colour was the main words 'Internet rovider'.
Now I would not say that I am brilliant at English, though I did come top of my class in year 12 English.
Though I am sure that was because I did not just looked up Miss Flett's dress all the time but also listened to her voice, while the rest of the all boy class only watched the show.
If we finally get our young to read, the Newspaper, a Book and if only the TV screen shouldn't we hope that with all the editors and others proof reading, that what was presented to us be correct.
If not they will think what is written is correct and the slow downfall slides on.
A cause of this error slide is the trust we put in 'Spell Checker' we happily push the button and correct what ever is presented, shock & horror, it misses words, the word could be spelt right, but have the wrong context.
We need to look and READ what we write before sending.
Though I am sure I did not have this talent before, it has only grown with age, but here is another example of me saying this did not happen InMyDay

The Begginning
Welcome one and all.
This will be a slow start as I get used to this, please bear with me.
I first became aware of getting old while I was working for a very large multi national, having just returned from holidays, I was called into the boss's office to receive the news I was to be retrenched, along with one other, a lovely lady.
Suspiciously we were both heading towards 50, while the other hundred or so workers, younger than us, kept their jobs.
I believe in life giving us hints, I took the payout, convinced the wife we should move to the holiday isle we just visited, sold the house and left on a new venture.
Within a short time, most of the workers were fired in a huge down turn, the office complex was moved to a cupboard some where else, I will follow this path soon, all this caused by bean counters to keep the all mighty stock price up.
This was certainly the start of, In my Day.
