Loose Change

Another societal collapse, brought on by the total reliance of the population to the computer chip, which turns up in every thing these days, is something I love to have fun with.

Buy something, anything , anywhere, pay cash for it, just for fun now.

Lets say the total is as easy as $4.15

Wait till they have rung it up, you have given them $10, they push the magic button which tells them what change to give, so no thinking is allowed, wait for the cash draw to open, then offer them the 15c to make the change easier on your pocket.

9 out of 10 times the person behind the counter cannot do the math in their head to work out the change is $6

I even had one person, after I told them what the simple change is, get a calculator to check, I have had a Manager called to the counter to sort out this type of disaster also grab a calculator to check the math.

We in our day, had to sit and do mindless repetition of mathematical tables, over and over to learn by rote the entire list of tables right up to the dreaded '12 times tables'.

I know we hated it, then, but now we can pull an equation out of thin air and now the answer 'in our heads'.

This skill is being lost to our newer generations and will only be able to be performed by people of the same era from the time frame of InMyDay.
